it's too hot to function
if you ever find yourself in the southier part of nj, maybe its my neck of the woods and i might say hello. Also dibs on coining the term "southier"

Saturday (with pictures)
Wow.
Saturday was one of the best days ever!
We started off by going to New York and checking out a LOST exhibit that featured many awesome LOST props. There was the Dharma Van, JUGHEAD, sawyer’s glasses, the mast of the Black Rock… tons of stuff. I took video and some pictures that will hopefully get up here soon.
We then went to another LOST event, which was a viewing of the pilot episode on a movie screen with surround sound and about 200 other nerds. It was very cool and made me realize how much effort was put into that first episode. It looks like a movie. After the episode, a panel spoke. The panel was alright but one woman just pissed my friends and I off. If you don’t like the show, that is perfectly fine, but why would you be on a panel, ripping it apart, in front of 200 fans, who just paid money to get in here. She was also super pretencious and used SAT words every sentence, I guess to prove how intellectual she was. She didn’t even make any good points. She sucked pretty hard.
Anyway, after this, I went to meet my friend Sherri, and said goodbye to my other friends who had to go back to Jersey for various reasons. Sherri and I were going to the grand opening of a Muscle Maker Grill. She is a manager at the original, and asked if I would go with her to the new one in NYC. They apparently had sushi so I was in. We got horribely lost and later, while walking through Union square, we stopped walking for a moment in front of a bar while she lit a cigarette. I said,
“Aren’t the people we gotta meet up with gonna be pissed we’re so late?”
“Yeah. (pause) Fuck it. Let’s just get a drink”
So we turned around and walked into the bar behind us. We walked up the stairs and I was focused on the bar, trying to see what was on tap. As I turned my head forward, I saw a group of familiar faces, who all at once yelled SURPRISE!!!
It was a surprise Bon Voyage party.
At first, I was so confused. I thought many of these people had already left new york for the day. And, “surprise”? it wasn’t my birthday!
The reality set it and I almost started crying. So many of my friends came out and I was overwhelmed and in shock. I was so surprised!!!
We had some dinner and a drink. I received a gift from uncannie, manbythesamename, and my best friend Rich… it was a digital camera!!! AHHH!
My other good friend Ellie got me the Lady Gaga cds, since we both share a little love for her.
Then we left, and started walking. I had an inkling of where we were going and I was right… McSorley’s alehouse.
I had always wanted to go, and for about 3 months, I was begging people to make a plan to get there. As we walked in, Rich’s brother Ryan, was already there.
He is basically “the man” there and got us a table (which involved the owners actually throwing other people out of a table so we could sit there!!!)
The rest of the night involved a TON of beer, singing the national anthem with the entire bar (one of my favorite memories of all time), getting a VIP Mcsorley’s mug and a toast, drinking and being goofy with all my friends, TONS of pictures on my new camera, and our new drinking game fingerblast!
I am so grateful to have such wonderful, thoughtful, and loving friends. Some I have know for a very long time, some I have only gotten closer to recently. But all of them make me feel happy, and on that night, they made me feel really special!
I’m going to post two videos of Ryan getting up on a McSorley’s chair, and getting the entire bar to sing the National Anthem. It’s one of those, “it was really cool if you were there, but i’m going to try and have you experience it through video” type deals.
Also, I’m going to post some more pics!
